Around 30 North Korean Soldiers Cross the Border into South Korea
Approximately 30 North Korean soldiers have crossed the demarcation line between North and South Korea, reports the Renhap news agency, citing data from the UN Command. The incident occurred on August 19.
One day prior, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that South Korean border troops had fired warning shots in response to the border violation.
The General Staff of North Korea stated that North Korean troops were conducting construction work near the border. Pyongyang has linked the incident to military exercises between South Korea and the United States, accusing Seoul of disrupting the balance of power in the region.
