Turkey Begins Construction of the 'Zangezur Corridor'
The so-called 'Zangezur Corridor' features the opening ceremony for the Kars-Igdir-Aralık-Dilucu railway, taking place in the Turkish city of Igdir. This has been reported by local media.
"The Kars-Igdir-Aralık-Dilucu railway will become the key to the Zangezur Corridor," said Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
Turkey has attracted €2.4 billion in external financing for the implementation of the project. The railway's capacity will be 5.5 million passengers and 15 million tons of cargo annually.
Minister Uraloğlu also stated that the construction of the Kars-Igdir-Aralık-Dilucu railway is one of the most significant steps towards the realization of the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor', which is essential not only for Turkey but also for the entire South Caucasus and Eurasia.
"This so-called 'Zangezur Corridor' will strengthen economic cooperation between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as contribute to the development of regional peace. A golden age of international trade will begin for all countries, especially those interested in the Middle Corridor," the minister added.
