Lawyer Discusses Samuel Karapetyan's Case
On August 18, 2025, we filed a special appeal against the Anti-Corruption Court's decision to extend Samuel Karapetyan's obviously illegal detention. As of August 22, 2025, there is still no information on the assignment of the case to the appellate court judge. This was reported by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan on his Facebook page.
"As a reminder, an appeal was filed against the detention decision made on June 18, immediately the following day. By June 20, 2025, the case had already been assigned to the well-known judge Armen Danielyan. This means the assignment occurred within 24 hours. In this case, the same approach has not been maintained, despite the fact that Samuel Karapetyan has been illegally detained for over 60 days. The detention has been enforced for over 60 days exclusively for defending the Mother See in an interview. Incidentally, this is yet another data point of the violations and political persecution in this case.
Let’s not rule out the possibility that appellate court judge Armen Danielyan is currently being considered as a potential judge for the transfer to the Appellate Anti-Corruption Court, as the appeal needs to be addressed precisely by the Appellate Anti-Corruption Court," wrote the lawyer.
