Citizens Participating in Rally Supporting Samvel Karapetyan Offered Money; Three Charged

The investigation into a criminal case regarding the material inducement of citizens to participate in a gathering organized on July 4, 2025, in Yerevan has been completed by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Yerevan Investigative Department.

During the investigation, there were apparent factual findings indicating that a group of individuals had materially induced numerous residents from various regions of Armenia to compel them to participate in the gathering.

Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against two individuals under Part 2 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code (obstructing or coercing the holding of a gathering or participation in it, as well as materially inducing participation or refusal to participate in a gathering), and one individual under Part 2 of Article 46-236 (aiding in the obstruction or coercion to hold or participate in a gathering, as well as materially inducing participation or refusal). Two individuals have been taken into custody as a precautionary measure.

The criminal case against them has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve the indictment and forward the case to the court for substantive examination.

It is noteworthy that on July 4, a rally was held at the Diana Abgari Park in support of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who was detained on June 17.
