Turkish Minister Announces Completion Timeline for 'Zangezur Corridor' Works

The 'Zangezur Corridor' is set to be completed in 4-5 years. This was announced by Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, during a broadcast on CNN Turk.

According to him, funding is not an issue; the project, worth $2.4 billion, is being constructed by two major Turkish consortia. The 43 km line is expected to be put into operation in 4-5 years. He emphasized that the works at the borders with Turkey and Nakhchivan will proceed simultaneously. The domestic line stretches 224 km, while the segment at the border with Azerbaijan will extend up to 170 km, of which 150 km is already completed, and the remaining 20 km will be constructed by Azerbaijan.

After the completion of the route, a train from Kars will be able to reach Baku directly. Uraloglu noted that the new corridor will create a shorter and uninterrupted route for the Turkic world, while the existing Baku–Tbilisi–Kars line will be utilized to its full capacity.
