Citizens Understand Me: Without This Decision, Peace Is Impossible - Pashinyan on the Nagorno-Karabakh Movement

I have participated in the Nagorno-Karabakh movement since the seventh grade, and I stated from the podium of the National Assembly that my conclusion as Prime Minister, based on experience and analysis, is that we should not continue the Nagorno-Karabakh movement. I made this announcement in March 2025. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing.

“Later, I declared that I would lead the Republic of Armenia along that path, and if the citizens of the Republic of Armenia believe that it should not be this way, I call on the citizens to make a revolution,” the Prime Minister noted, adding: “I assume that I am the first and only Prime Minister in the world who has called for a revolution in the case where citizens disagree with the declared strategy.”

“They understood that the principle I put forward, unfortunately for a long time and perhaps from the very beginning—as opposed to us—others' perception of the Nagorno-Karabakh movement has been different, and they realized that it is a very convenient lever to use in order for Armenia's sovereignty, statehood, independence, and well-being not to establish themselves, and it must be admitted that this lever has been effective,” he emphasized.
