Azerbaijan to Supply Gas to Ukraine by Year-End

Ukraine is negotiating a gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan to be finalized by the end of the year, announced Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grinchuk.

On July 28, Sergey Koretkin, head of the board of Naftogaz Ukraine, revealed that Ukraine has signed its first agreement for gas imports from Azerbaijan, with initial supplies being small and conducted through the Trans-Balkan corridor.

“We are currently in negotiations. Azerbaijan is interested in this,” Grinchuk stated in comments to RBC-Ukraine.

Earlier, a group of companies from Naftogaz announced the signing of the first agreement for the purchase of Azerbaijani natural gas with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, part of the Azerbaijani SOCAR group. The supply route will be through the Inter-Balkan gas pipeline connecting Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine. According to reports, the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine has already commenced.
