There Will Be Compromises, No One Will Be Satisfied: Pentagon Chief on Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Any option for a peaceful resolution in Ukraine may require mutual compromises, including the potential exchange of territories, and ultimately, it will not fully satisfy either side. This opinion was expressed by Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth in an interview with Fox News.
“In terms of negotiations, you know, there can be territorial exchanges. There will be compromises. No one will be satisfied,” Hegseth stated.
When asked if he is concerned about setting a precedent related to the exchanges, Hegseth replied, “No, because this is not a war that President Trump started. He did not provoke it. It emerged due to the weakness of previous administrations, specifically under Obama and Biden.”
The issue of Ukraine is expected to be the central theme at the upcoming U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska. U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump, have previously indicated that the administration seeks a rapid and negotiated resolution to the conflict.
