Iran Seizes Foreign Tankers Carrying Smuggled Fuel

Iranian border guards have intercepted foreign tankers transporting over 2 million liters of diesel fuel, reports the Iranian Mehr news agency. The cargo has been identified as smuggled.

Seventeen suspected smugglers, all foreign nationals, have been detained. According to the agency, a ship named 'Phoenix' was seized near the shores of Hormozgan Province.

Media estimates value the seized fuel at 759 billion rials (over 18 million dollars).
