Iran Opposes Involvement of External Forces in the South Caucasus: Foreign Ministry Spokesman
Iran is opposed to the involvement of external forces in the South Caucasus. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei during a press briefing.
He emphasized that Iran, considering the geopolitical, political, and economic significance of the South Caucasus, has always played an active role in the region's developments and has maintained close ties with both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“Iran-Armenia relations, due to having a short but secure common border, are based on ancient friendship and cooperation,” he underscored.
According to Baghaei, while welcoming the expansion of regional communication routes for economic development, Iran stresses that these actions should not violate international law, international borders, national sovereignty, or geopolitical structures.
