International Reaction to the Signing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Peace Agreement
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, welcomed the historic peace agreement signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia with the participation of US President Donald Trump at the White House. He mentioned this in a post on the X social media platform.
“This important event marks the beginning of an era of peace, stability, and cooperation in the South Caucasus region, which has endured conflicts causing human suffering for decades. We congratulate President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on this historic agreement that shapes the peaceful future of the region, based on wisdom, foresight, and balanced decisions,” he emphasized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia also welcomed the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “This historic agreement is a crucial milestone on the path to ensuring lasting peace in the South Caucasus and creates a solid foundation for new opportunities for long-term stability and development in the region. Georgia remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing peace and strengthening regional cooperation,” stated a statement from the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expressed support for the preliminary signing of the peace treaty by Azerbaijan and Armenia. “We appreciate the efforts of both sides towards achieving peace, as well as those of [US President] Donald Trump. We hope this step will pave the way for further cooperation and prosperity in the South Caucasus,” said the statement.
Spain hopes that the agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia will open a new phase of cooperation, understanding, and development for the benefit of both countries and the entire region. “Spain welcomes the agreements reached between President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan with the participation of the US at the White House and believes that this will be a decisive step towards a final peace and complete regulation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan after decades of conflict,” the statement read.
Recall that as a result of the trilateral meeting, Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration.
