Iran's Foreign Ministry Expresses Concerns About Peace Agreement and External Interference
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the peace agreement in the South Caucasus while expressing concerns regarding external interference.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran closely follows the developments in the South Caucasus region and welcomes the signing of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia as an important step towards stability. At the same time, Iran expresses concern about the potential negative consequences of any external interference threatening the security of the region.
Undoubtedly, peace and stability in the Caucasus region are beneficial for all countries in the area. Iran remains concerned about external interference in any form, especially near shared borders, which could disrupt the security and stability of the region.
The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the necessity of taking all political, legal, and economic measures to protect its national rights and interests. It is believed that the creation of transport corridors and the removal of blockages in communication networks will contribute to the stability, security, and economic development of the region's peoples, provided that this occurs based on mutual interests and respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries in the region, and without external interference.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to continue constructive cooperation with the two countries—Azerbaijan and Armenia—based on mutual interests through bilateral and regional cooperation to maintain peace, stability, and economic development in the region, including the “3+3” mechanism,” the statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry reads.
