Garik Galeyan Sentenced to Imprisonment: Lawyer

The Court of Appeals has concluded the examination of appeals in the case of Garik Galeyan. This was reported by lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan.

“The court partially (regarding the punishment) accepted the defense's appeal, but decided that he should be imprisoned for 1.5 years for the charge of hooliganism. According to information obtained from the Armenian Ministry of Justice, three individuals are currently serving sentences in penal institutions for the second part of hooliganism charges involving repeated offenses and other serious crimes. We can note that Garik Galeyan will be the first person to serve a sentence in a penal institution for such a charge,” the lawyer wrote.

“Let me remind you that the state accused Garik Galeyan of hooliganism, which manifested in pouring clean water over a person. The state did not consider it hooliganism when Alen Simonyan spat in a citizen's eye at the Cascade complex. I would like to note that August 17 was the birthday of Garik Galeyan's heroic son, Mkrtich, and he could not be absent from Yerablur. Let nothing be said; may your children remain alive,” the lawyer added.
