When the Court is Silent, the Fourth Estate Speaks: The System has Cracked, We will Show Where
On July 31, the Administrative Court, presided over by Judge Daniel Danielyan, issued a ruling. The court dismissed the claim of "Egalite" Limited Liability Company against the Public Television and Radio Commission, regarding the validity of the Commission's decision number 68-A dated May 27, 2025, which recognized "Meteo TV," "Piano Group," and "Radio Vibe" as winners of the tender for the licensing of the 106.9 frequency in the capital.
This decision will undoubtedly be appealed by "Egalite" LLC at the Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia. Starting today, Auroranews begins a broad public information campaign and journalistic investigations. The aim is to shed light on the systemic issues present in Armenia's audiovisual media sector and the licensing domain regarding the Law on Audiovisual Media.
The issues within Armenia's media landscape and the activities of specific judges and public officials involved in the discussions of disputes within this sector will be in the spotlight. We will raise questions about legality, transparency, and accountability, including potential corrupt mechanisms that undermine the independent functioning of the audiovisual media and erode public trust in state institutions.
Our goal is public oversight, restoration of justice, and initiation of reforms in the field of audiovisual media regulation. We are confident that many media outlets in Armenia will find this interesting. Follow the publications, investigations, and comments on our website Auroranews.am and our social media platforms. This is just the beginning.
