Murder at a Gas Station: Hometown Mayor's Husband Called for Interrogation
The husband of former Ejmiatsin mayor Diana Gasparyan has recently been summoned by the Armenian Investigative Committee for questioning as a witness. This information was reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
What were the investigators trying to determine? The matter concerns a murder that took place at a gas station on March 22, where the memory card of a surveillance camera went missing. Law enforcement officials attempted to understand the whereabouts of the memory card, but employees at the gas station explained that the camera did not even have a memory card. Authorities suspect that the card was deliberately destroyed.
Currently, Gasparyan's husband has been called for questioning as a witness to clarify his connection to the incident. Four months have passed since the murder, and law enforcement is still searching for the suspect, 33-year-old Karen Badalyan, known by the nickname 'JAP', who is notorious in the Armavir region.
As a result of these events, 1.5 months later—after the shooting on March 22 and the search of the mayor's house on March 25—Ejmiatsin Mayor Diana Gasparyan had to resign. After her resignation, both Diana and her mother-in-law found themselves in the defendant's chair within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
