High Alert Declared Following Powerful Earthquake in Kamchatka
The authorities in the Kamchatka region have declared a high alert status in the area following the earthquake. This measure is necessary for conducting investigations, according to the local government, as reported by TASS.
"A high alert mode will be introduced at the regional level. The aim is to restore all damaged systems, conduct additional investigations, and also to engage additional forces and resources. Emergency services must now operate under high alert status," stated the message from Vladimir Solodov, the governor of Kamchatka.
Additionally, local authorities have established temporary accommodation centers for residents who fear remaining in their homes after the earthquake.
It is noted that a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 8.7 was recorded in the vicinity of the Kamchatka coast within an hour.
