Azerbaijan is Not Taking Any Real Steps Towards Peace: Zurabyan
Levon Zurabyan, the deputy chairman of the Armenian National Congress, commented on the statement made by Azerbaijani President’s assistant Hajiev, who claimed that "the military confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not on the agenda."
“The grand ‘peacekeeper’ Nikol Pashinyan’s propagandists are delighted, presenting this statement as a success of the ‘peace course’ and proof of its effectiveness. Pashinyan and his propagandists fail to realize that, in reality, this is a very dangerous formulation. Hajiev does not say that the war or military action by Azerbaijan against Armenia is no longer a possibility. He does not explain the gunfire and tensions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border immediately after the agreement announced around the peace treaty,” wrote Zurabyan.
According to him, Hajiev only states that war is “not on the agenda.” Anyone who knows how to analyze text and subtext will immediately discern the hidden threat behind the guise of peace. An agenda is not a stable thing; what is not on the agenda today could become so tomorrow.
“This means that Azerbaijan is not taking any real steps towards peace and continues to keep the possibility of war open. Meanwhile, Pashinyan continues to deceive the people about his supposed diplomatic ‘successes,’” concluded Zurabyan.
