The So-Called 'Zangezur Corridor' Project is a Geopolitical Program Led by the US and Israel: Velayati

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated that the proposed project of the so-called Zangezur Corridor is a geopolitical program orchestrated by the US and Israeli regimes aimed at undermining Iran’s national security and strategic ties.

During a ceremony in Tehran commemorating Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili, Velayati addressed geopolitical concerns regarding the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia related to the proposed Zangezur Corridor project.

He emphasized that Iran's enemies, particularly global Zionism and the United States, have long been anxious about Iran's historical unity and deep cultural connections in the region.

“These actions aim to weaken the foundations of Iranian identity as a means to harm national security,” he noted.

Velayati further stated that programs like the so-called Zangezur Corridor serve as a cover for larger geopolitical projects. He warned that the main objective is to undermine the resistance axis, sever Iran's ties with the Caucasus, and impose a land blockade on Iran and Russia in the southern region.
