Over 1400 Armenian Trucks Await at the Upper Lars Checkpoint
At the "Upper Lars" checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, more than 1400 Armenian trucks are currently stacked. According to the latest data, a total of 3512 trucks from various countries are registered in the queue, of which 1387 are from Armenia.
The congestion is due to a significant influx of citizens traveling from Russia to Georgia and Armenia for tourism purposes. On some days, crossing the border takes up to 8 hours, and the queues start near the "Darial" checkpoint (from the Georgian side).
It is worth noting that the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway is the only operational route through which Armenia can establish a land connection with Russia.
