Initiative Launched to Rename Yerevan's Leningradyan Street: Khachatryan

Ani Khachatryan, the head of the Republic faction of the Yerevan City Council, made a post on her Facebook page addressing the issue of renaming Yerevan's Leningradyan Street.

"The question of renaming Yerevan's Leningradyan Street has been discussed for years. Today, the Republic faction initiated the proposal to rename it in honor of GREAT ARMENIAN, GREAT BENEFACTOR, NATIONAL HERO OF THE RA KIRK KIRKORYAN. Kirk Kirkoryan carried out extensive philanthropic activities throughout his life, generously supporting his historical homeland, Armenia.

Since this street has long been at the center of discussions and holds a unique position in Yerevan due to its location and significance, we have decided, in addition to the public discussion taking place on the 'Active Citizen' platform, to also meet with the residents of the street. If necessary, we will hold a press conference to present the details of the initiative and answer all questions. It is time for Yerevan to proudly bear the name of Kirk Kirkoryan as well."
