Vagharshapat and Khoy Communities to Unite

The communities of Vagharshapat and Khoy in the Armavir region will unite. The Parliament, with 60 votes in favor, 26 against, and 1 abstention, approved in the second reading and entirely the package of bills amending the Law on Administrative Territorial Division and supplementing the Law on Local Self-Government.

“The goal is more effective governance. The united community will have a larger population, thus more resources will be allocated from the state budget,” stated the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan.

It is worth noting that the mayor of Vagharshapat, Diana Gasparyan, resigned on May 15. The local self-government elections in Vagharshapat are scheduled to take place on November 16.
