National Assembly Adopts Statement on Unacceptability of Seizing Power through Violence
The National Assembly has approved a statement on the "Unacceptability of Seizing Power through Violence and the Protection of Democracy" during today's session. The document was initiated by the ruling "Civil Contract" party.
The draft statement was presented in parliament by the head of the Civil Contract faction, Hayk Konjoryan, highlighting the following: "The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia and reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law and the principles of constitutional order, based on the universal values of democracy and human rights, while remaining loyal to the unviolated provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, according to which power belongs to the people and is formed only through the free expression of the people's will, rejects terrorism, threats, and any form of violence in political struggle and the organization of public life, while acknowledging the commitments undertaken by Armenia in the fight against terrorism."
