The Issue of Vehicles Accumulating at the Georgia Border is Not Fully Resolved: Papoyan

The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, addressed the issue of apricot and brandy exports during an extraordinary meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly.

“From June 1 to July 1, 1354 trucks loaded with apricots have left Armenia, with 1023 crossing into Russia and 302 still en route. 36 trucks were returned at the beginning of June, and there have been no returns since. Just yesterday, 66 trucks left Armenia,” he stated.

“In June, of the trucks that left Armenia, 122 loaded with brandy entered Russia, including 10 yesterday and another 10 before that. It should be noted that over 80 trucks have reached Russia only in recent days. Thanks to our joint efforts, we are trying to address the issue of vehicle accumulation with Georgia. It is not fully resolved yet, but we are working on it daily. We are trying to expedite the vetting process; if it previously took one to one and a half months, we are now aiming to reduce it to 15 days, and eventually to 7 days.”
