US Drawn Into Another Unwarranted War: Iran

The Iranian ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, stating, "The Israeli Prime Minister has managed to compel US President Donald Trump to perform the West's 'dirty work,' thus drawing the United States into another costly and unwarranted war." This was reported by The Associated Press.

Iravani characterized the aggression by the US and Israel against Iran as a "clear and gross violation of international law," adding that Tehran would decide how to respond to the US attacks.

He mentioned that while Iran's foreign minister was engaged in discussions with several European counterparts earlier this week, "the United States decided to destroy that diplomacy."

"What conclusion can be drawn from this situation? From the perspective of Western countries, Iran must 'return to the negotiating table.' However, as the Iranian Foreign Minister pointed out, how can Iran return to something it has never left?" Iravani stated.

The UN Security Council meeting was convened at Iran's request following US strikes on three of its nuclear facilities.
