Ukrainian Spies Arrested in Iran Face Death Penalty
Iranian security forces have detained three Ukrainian intelligence agents who were planning an attack on a drone manufacturing facility in Isfahan. This was reported by the Iranian news outlet Mashregh News.
The suspects had been monitoring suspicious individuals for several weeks and were arrested in southern Tehran. The court has charged them, according to the Iranian Tasnim news agency.
“The suspects attempted to enter the military facility to plant explosives. The group was neutralized before they could cause any harm,” the agency quoted a representative of the IRGC.
During the search, explosives, communication equipment, and detailed schematics of the facility were found in the possession of the saboteurs. The arrested individuals were acting under orders from Kyiv, but Tehran stated that the involvement of third countries cannot be ruled out. Ukraine has not commented on the incident.
The arrested spies will be prosecuted on charges of espionage and terrorism. According to Iranian law, these charges are punishable by death.
