Former Vanadzor Mayor Samvel Darbinyan Arrested Along with Two Others

Former Vanadzor Mayor Samvel Darbinyan has been arrested. This was reported by Aysor.am. According to the news outlet, Darbinyan was detained on charges of money laundering.

“The prosecutor has initiated public criminal prosecution under Article 190, Part 3 of the Criminal Code pertaining to money laundering,” officials from the Prosecutor General's Office stated.

Additionally, the Investigative Committee announced that besides Samvel Darbinyan, his brother and two other individuals have also been arrested. “During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated by the RA Investigative Committee, public criminal prosecution has been launched against five individuals for using their official or service powers for particularly large-scale money laundering under Article 296, Part 3, Clauses 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code. Four individuals have been arrested,” the Investigative Committee reported.
