Armenian Foreign Ministry Deeply Disappointed
The Armenian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement expressing its deep disappointment concerning the distorted and extremely one-sided formulations found in the "Istanbul Declaration" adopted during the recent ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the resolutions presented by Azerbaijan.
The emphasis expressed in these documents contradicts the interests and logic of establishing lasting peace in the region. The Foreign Ministry urges the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that supported the aforementioned declaration and resolutions to reconsider and unequivocally reject biased initiatives that target Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, which jeopardize the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
There is a real opportunity for establishing peace in the South Caucasus, and the conduct of any international organization in this manner does not contribute to the effective realization of this opportunity. The Republic of Armenia is committed to its strategy of implementing a peace agenda and expects support from international partners, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in efforts to establish lasting and sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
