Georgian Side Promises to Allow 50 Trucks Carrying Armenian Brandy to Cross Border
The Georgian side has promised to allow 50 trucks carrying Armenian brandy to cross the border. During a question-and-answer session at the National Assembly, the Minister of Economy informed that permission has already been granted for 33 trucks.
“The Georgian side has promised to resolve this issue, and they have proposed a specific mechanism, which we are continuing to work with,” said Gevorg Papoyan.
It is noteworthy that Georgia has banned trucks exporting Armenian brandy from crossing the border under the pretext of conducting examinations. According to Papoyan, the Georgian side claims they have doubts that some of the exported brandies are not brandy and that certain examinations need to be conducted.
However, the minister insisted that the transit country does not have the right to conduct such examinations; only the receiving country can carry them out.
