The customs officials of Georgia have discovered nearly 300 kg of heroin in a truck that entered from Armenia, according to the Georgian service of Sputnik news agency, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to customs documents, the truck was loaded with fireproof bricks. However, it actually contained drugs intended for transportation to Europe via Batumi.
During a detailed inspection of the truck's trailer, customs officials found 600 plastic containers mimicking bricks. These containers held 298 kg of heroin, valued at 85 million lari (approximately 31 million dollars).
The truck was driven by a citizen of Georgia, who now faces up to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
