Trump Calls on Iran to Respond to U.S. Proposals

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed developments regarding Iran's nuclear program during a recent phone call. President Trump urged Tehran to respond as soon as possible to Washington's proposals in this area.

“We also discussed the issue of Iran and the fact that time is running out for Iran to make a decision about abandoning nuclear weapons. The decision must be made quickly,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social page, commenting on his phone conversation with Putin.

“I told President Putin that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, and I believe we have an agreement on this issue. President Putin suggested participating in discussions with Iran, which may help expedite a solution to this matter. In my opinion, Iran is procrastinating in making a decision on this very serious issue. We need a clear answer very soon,” added the U.S. president.

Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, previously stated that the U.S. conditions regarding Iran’s nuclear program contradict the country’s national interests. The country's foreign ministry also mentioned the prohibition on uranium enrichment as a red line.

It should be noted that the U.S. has been negotiating with Iran regarding the country’s nuclear program, demanding that Tehran abandon its uranium enrichment program, as it could potentially be used to develop nuclear weapons in the future. Washington desires that Iran does not produce enriched uranium for its peaceful nuclear program but instead purchases it from other countries. Meanwhile, Tehran insists that it has no intention of creating nuclear weapons and that uranium enrichment is conducted within the framework of the country’s sovereign rights and is intended solely for peaceful purposes.
