Chief of the General Staff Discusses Paying for Military Exemption

There is legislation regarding exemption from military service, Chief of the General Staff Eduard Asryan stated during a conversation with journalists, addressing the topic of paying for military exemption. He noted that during a cabinet meeting, the Minister of Defense presented a viewpoint that reflects the stance of the entire management of the ministry, including that of the General Staff.

"There will be discussions in the commission on this matter soon, and we will present our opinion. We are interested in having the army filled with healthy, educated soldiers and citizens. It is the duty of the General Staff to continue their training and education," Asryan said.

Regarding corruption in the army, Asryan acknowledged that while he is not part of the anti-corruption commission, there are instances when various servicemen, officers, and contract soldiers attempt to engage in corrupt practices. "However, it is our duty to root them out," he emphasized.
