Mirzoyan Addresses Issues Faced by Cognac Producers
In the coming days, there will be some movement, but the issues faced by cognac producers and exporters will not be resolved in just a day or two. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, in the National Assembly.
The Foreign Minister noted that they are aware that the producers' shipments have been stuck at the Armenian-Georgian border for over 40 days, and they are working on finding a solution.
“There are problems that may give the impression that they are artificially created, but there are also issues that at least have a chance or deserve to be considered seriously,” said Mirzoyan.
It should be reminded that on May 13, Armenian alcohol producers held a protest in front of the Georgian embassy in Yerevan. They demanded clarifications regarding the delays in transporting goods through Georgia. They stated that cognac destined for export to Russia and the Baltic countries is subjected to laboratory tests at the Upper Lars checkpoint, which causes significant delays and financial losses.
Earlier, Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced plans to visit Georgia to address the issues related to the transit inspections of Armenian alcoholic products.
