Gunfire Aims to Psychologically Pressurize Soldiers and Residents, Chief of General Staff
During a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly, Chief of General Staff Edward Asryan assessed the border situation as relatively stable. "Yes, gunfire has been heard, and it continues, but it is not targeted or purposeful. The gunfire that is targeted is reported through our official communications department," said Asryan.
Commenting on Azerbaijan's claims that they were not the shooters, the Chief of General Staff said, "Of course, they will say that, but they are the shooters. The side that fires first will know their objectives better. According to our assessment, their objectives are to exert pressure on our soldiers and the border residents. The fact is that we are not paying attention to them and continue our normal service."
In response to a question about whether he also believes, like the Prime Minister, that there will be no war but rather peace, Asryan noted, "The Prime Minister is the Supreme Commander of the RA Armed Forces, and what he conveys must be based on sufficient grounds for that."
