Anna Hakobyan Addresses Rumors of Buying Luxury Villa in France
Reports indicate that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has purchased a luxurious villa in Marseille, France, valued at 3.1 million euros, allegedly financed through foreign aid designated for Armenia's troubled economy. Anna Hakobyan shared this information on her Facebook page.
"The 300 m2 two-story villa, acquired in May 2025, is located in the Château Gombert district of Marseille. It features 4 bedrooms, a swimming pool, a rooftop terrace, and a garage with 3 parking spaces.
Sources of this investigation suggest that funds from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) may have been unlawfully directed towards personal use by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In 2024, AFD allocated 75 million euros to directly support Armenia's budget aimed at financing key development programs. Meanwhile, the CCAF continues to provide humanitarian and infrastructural assistance to the Armenian government with the support of the diaspora.
“We will sue the authors of this misinformation. I hope we find them, and it won't turn out, for instance, that this is a site without any registration or legal address,” wrote Hakobyan. “Why don’t we start legal proceedings against the media and individuals in Armenia who have attributed palaces, supermarkets, colleges, shares, diamond mines, offshore bank accounts, and billions received for land to us?
A very small, technical reason is that we do not have the financial means to hire that many lawyers. It is difficult to choose whom to file a lawsuit against from so many. We do not have enough money to go against everyone, we have a thousand questions, we are a large family.
And, besides, even if we set everything aside and take that step, can you imagine the uproar that would follow—‘Save us, save us, the entire legal system has been mobilized against political opponents, political persecutions are taking place; justice has become a tool, a hammer, a scythe.’ And you can familiarize yourself with our financial capabilities through the declarations we have submitted. True, the media has presented my declaration with flashy headlines, but the essence is clear—a salary under millions of drams, and a transaction for one apartment. We sold our only home and, utilizing a loan through the income tax refund program, purchased a house, just like tens of thousands of citizens of the Republic of Armenia. And yes, I work and earn a salary, just like many others,” Hakobyan wrote.
