Iran Plans to Reject US Proposal
Iran is set to reject the US proposal regarding its nuclear program, according to Reuters. A source from the agency indicated that Tehran's response could be interpreted as a refusal of Washington's offer. The diplomat noted that under the presented conditions, Iran's stance on uranium enrichment remains 'unchanged,' and it does not provide a clear explanation regarding the lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions.
Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington and Tehran are trying to reach an understanding on a framework agreement, which would serve as an interim step toward concluding a comprehensive nuclear agreement. According to the publication, Iran believes that such an agreement could bring the parties closer to a new deal and seeks to include the affirmation of its rights to a civilian nuclear program, as well as a commitment not to pursue the creation of nuclear weapons. Additionally, a possible condition could be the conducting of inspections at Iran's nuclear sites.
