These are acts of terrorism: The Investigative Committee of Russia on bridge explosions

Explosions of bridges occurred in the Bryansk and Kursk regions, resulting in injuries and fatalities. These incidents are considered acts of terrorism, as stated by Svetlana Petrenko, an official representative of the agency, to RIA Novosti.

"On May 31, 2025, at 10:50 PM, an explosion on the Vigonichi-Pilshino railway section in the Bryansk region caused the collapse of an automobile bridge, with debris falling onto a passenger train passing underneath. As a result of the incident, people were injured and killed," she said.

According to Petrenko, a similar explosion of a railway bridge occurred around 3 AM on June 1 in the Zheleznogorsk area of the Kursk region, causing a passing train to fall onto the roadway. The train driver and his two assistants were injured as a result.

She also noted that criminal cases related to the incidents in Bryansk and Kursk regions have been transferred to the Chief Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

It should be recalled that on Sunday night, a bridge collapsed in the Vigonichsky area of the Bryansk region. The locomotive and carriages of the Klimov-Moscow No. 86 passenger train collapsed due to the collapse of the automobile bridge's arches, resulting from illegal interference with transportation activities. Regional governor Alexander Bogomas reported that the bridge explosion resulted in seven deaths and 69 injuries, three of whom were children.

In the one-way railway section of Ostapovo-Mikhaylovsky Rudnik in the Kursk region, an accident occurred involving a freight train's diesel locomotive and three empty carriages due to the collapse of the bridge arches. As a result of the accident, the locomotive driver sustained a leg injury, with no other injuries reported. The incident did not affect the operations of trains on long-distance routes.
