We Have One Very Clear Red Line: Witkoff

Any deal between the United States and Iran must include an agreement on not enriching uranium, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff stated in an interview with ABC News on Sunday.

“We have one very clear red line, and that is uranium enrichment. We cannot allow the capability to enrich even by 1%,” Witkoff said. According to him, from the perspective of the Trump administration, everything starts with “a deal that does not include uranium enrichment.”

“We cannot allow it. Because enrichment allows for the creation of weapons. And we will not allow a bomb to appear here,” Witkoff added.

The U.S. special envoy also stated that he is optimistic about the negotiations and believes that the parties will engage in talks again this week in Europe. “We hope that it will lead to some real positive movement,” Witkoff said.

On Thursday, Trump had announced that the United States is very close to reaching a nuclear deal with Iran but stated on Friday that Iran must act quickly. After leaving the United Arab Emirates on Air Force One, Trump told reporters, “They have an offer. More importantly, they know that they must act quickly, or else something bad will happen.”
