Mirzoyan Talks About Negotiations with Lavrov
The negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were quite broad and constructive. This statement was made by Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with Lavrov.
“We discussed regional and geopolitical processes, emphasizing the importance of making additional efforts to deepen relations for the benefit of both countries and our citizens,” he said.
According to Mirzoyan, Lavrov’s visit is a great opportunity to discuss bilateral relations. During the discussions, both partners noted the high level and ongoing political dialogue between Yerevan and Moscow, based on the interests and priorities of both countries.
Mirzoyan reminded that this year has been busy and will continue to be rich with reciprocal visits. “Economic relations play a significant role; we have mutually beneficial and successful cooperation within the framework of the EAEU, yet the region's economic development potential is not fully utilized. We are confident that economic cooperation will increase substantially with the unblocking of regional routes and the reactivation of transport infrastructures,” he added.
In this context, he reiterated the “Peace Intersection” project to his Russian counterpart.
Mirzoyan emphasized that Lavrov's visit also provides a good opportunity to discuss sensitive issues that concern the societies of both countries. In this regard, he specifically addressed the changes in migration policy, expressing hope that these changes will not negatively impact the activities of citizens of both countries or the friendly ties between the two nations.
Another sensitive topic is cooperation in the media sector. According to Mirzoyan, it was emphasized during the meeting the importance of making additional efforts to address emerging problems in the sector promptly, ensuring that undue unilateral assessments and interventions are avoided.
It is worth noting that just minutes earlier, Armenia’s and Russia’s foreign ministers, Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov, signed a consultation program between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries for the years 2025-2026.
