Francis' Papamobile to Serve as Mobile Clinic for Gaza's Children
The former papamobile of Pope Francis, which has long served as a symbol of peace, will soon be transformed into a mobile medical clinic intended for the treatment of children in the Gaza Strip. This humanitarian initiative, approved by the Pope a few months before his passing, is now being realized through collaboration between the Vatican and charitable organizations.
The vehicle in question is a Mitsubishi model gifted to Francis by Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas back in 2014, specifically for a visit to Bethlehem. Currently, the vehicle is undergoing renovations to be repurposed as a fully equipped mobile clinic.
The vehicle will be fitted with blast-proof windows, and medical personnel will operate inside, providing essential medical assistance to children living in war conditions. The transformation is expected to take approximately three weeks. The initiative aims to improve healthcare access for children in areas where the healthcare system is in crisis.
