Pakistan and India Exchange Fire: The Balance of Power

India has reported violations of the ceasefire regime by Pakistan along the Line of Control in the Indian-administered regions of Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated in a press release from the Indian Army, as reported by ANI.

"During the night of May 2 to 3, 2025, the Pakistani army opened fire with small arms in the vicinity of the Line of Control," the Indian military reported. Specifically, they highlighted the areas of Kupwara, Uri, and Ahnur in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian ground forces added that the "Indian army responded swiftly." On April 22, an armed attack occurred against civilians in the northern region of Jammu and Kashmir, where militants opened fire on tourists ascending along the Baisharani Valley path. According to Hindustan Times, Indian intelligence has obtained evidence of Pakistan's involvement in the attack.

On April 30, Pakistan's Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, stated that India is planning to launch a military strike against the Islamic Republic within the next 24-36 hours. He noted that Pakistani authorities have credible information indicating that India intends to use the incident in Pahalgam as a false pretext for a military strike. Tarar emphasized that Pakistan will respond decisively to any acts of aggression.

Previously, there had been calls in Pakistan to investigate the Kashmir assault.
