New Footage: Number of Victims of the Earthquake in Istanbul Increases

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Marmara Sea at 12:49 PM, lasting for 13 seconds and occurring at a depth of about 7 kilometers. This was reported by Turkey's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya.

“A total of 51 aftershocks have been recorded, with the strongest measuring 5.9 magnitude. The 112 emergency call center received 6,100 calls, the overwhelming majority of which were informational. There are no casualties reported. All services have been mobilized from the first moments. No collapses have been detected. There are no issues with infrastructure or power lines,” he stated.

The minister urged citizens to carefully follow the announcements of official bodies, emphasizing that unverified information should not be relied upon.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, about 240 citizens have been affected by the earthquake in Istanbul.
