Devices to Be Installed on Police Vehicles' Roofs, Says Interior Minister
At the national level, there is a perception problem, as many consider using a phone while driving to be a minor issue. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior of Armenia, Arpine Sarkissian, during a broadcast on Public Television.
“Often, we encounter gaps in the judicial system because complete video footage is not available to prove that the fined citizen was using their phone while driving. This issue will be fully resolved soon, as we have planned to equip police vehicles with some small but important technical devices. Small camera systems will be installed on the roofs of patrol vehicles, which will allow for 360-degree recording of the surrounding vehicles, capturing those drivers who are talking on their phones, smoking, or not wearing seat belts,” she said.
