Simonyan on the Altercation in the National Assembly
“Whoever says such a thing is a liar,” said Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, during a conversation with journalists. “Ishkhan Saghatelyan is a liar. First of all, such an article has long existed in the Criminal Code. Welcome to the new reality—what does it mean that ours is different? The incident began after a conversation arose among members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation during a speech, to which I responded that you have unresolved issues among yourselves. In response, Mr. Minasyan said, ‘I can turn on my microphone and speak, but I will not do that.’ I asked Mr. Minasyan to sit down, to which Garnik Danelyan responded, ‘Don’t sit down.’ After that, the individual you mentioned started shouting, and that’s when the altercation took place,” Simonyan explained.
It should be noted that an altercation occurred today between the ruling Civil Contract party and the Armenia alliance in the National Assembly.
