Possible COVID Infection: Alen Simonyan on Pashinyan's Participation in the Parade
“You need to go to those countries and talk to those countries with which you have issues. With those countries that have friendly and good relations, everything is clear; you are already friends with them, and these questions can be resolved quite calmly over a phone call,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan.
“Numerous accusations from high levels are coming from Russia towards the Armenian authorities. But we are preparing for the visit of the Foreign Minister to Russia and the visit of the Federation Council Chair. Why are they coming to Armenia?” he added.
He noted that there are problems, and politicians need to strive to solve them: “It is also important to express displeasure and make a demarche, but you cannot make sharp changes at the country level; you also need to pursue your interests.”
Simonyan did not rule out that the Prime Minister may not go to Moscow on May 9 to participate in the Victory Parade. “It’s not quite right for me to say; the Prime Minister may decide at the last minute whether to go or not. I don’t know, it’s possible he may get infected with COVID, or everyone may get sick with COVID. You see, many leaders of countries have fallen ill and are not going; for example, the leader of India,” he stated.
He believes that Armenia should participate in that meeting since Armenia also played a role in the victory of 1945. According to Simonyan, these visits also provide the opportunity for meetings with international partners.
