Avinyan Meets Residents of Building 64 on Mikoyan Street: Details
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, met with the residents of the multi-functional residential complex located at 64 Anastas Mikoyan Street in the Davtashen administrative district, as well as representatives of the bankrupt construction company. He announced that the municipality would support the implementation of upgrading works and the issuance of operational permits within its powers. This was communicated by Avinyan on his social media accounts.
Residents of Building 64 had previously blocked the street and made demands of the bankrupt developer. They have been complaining that they acquired the right to purchase apartments several years ago, yet the developer has been declared bankrupt, leaving their housing situation unresolved. They are particularly affected, especially those who paid cash directly to the developer and cannot prove this fact.
It turns out that the developer initially provided one set of information to the buyers but later decided and acted differently. Specifically, there is a 4000 square meter land area in the vicinity where the developer plans to construct a building illegally, while different terms are stated in the purchase rights contracts. The residents demand that this building not be constructed at all, as the area has essentially been seized.
“I have heard the existing concerns and suggestions from the residents regarding possible solutions. I assured them that the possibility of construction within the boundaries of around 4000 square meters of land separated from 64 Anastas Mikoyan is excluded, and emphasized the legislative reasons for this impossibility, including the limitations set forth in the approved general urban plan of Yerevan for 2024,” Avinyan noted.
He emphasized that within the frameworks of the powers granted by legislation, they are ready to assist in the implementation of the planned upgrading works and the issuance of operational permits for both 64 Anastas Mikoyan and the separated land area registered at 64/7.
It is noteworthy that among the victims of the developer at Mikoyan 64 is Babken Tunyan, a member of the “Civil Contract” faction of the National Assembly of Armenia, who also participated in the protest action organized on April 14.
