Prosecutor's Office to Appeal Court Acquittal of Albert Arstamyan

The Prosecutor's Office will appeal the court ruling that acquitted 71-year-old Albert Arstamyan, who was accused of throwing an apple at Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Aravic Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia, informed Factinfo that an appeal will be filed following the receipt of the court ruling.

As previously reported, on April 11, the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Judge Arman Hovhannisyan, announced a verdict of acquittal, noting that the charges against Arstamyan were not substantiated. Additional hearings will be held in court to discuss issues related to moral damages and other matters.

Albert Arstamyan was accused of throwing an apple at Nikol Pashinyan from the balcony of a building located at 2 Rubinyants Street in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district on August 23, 2024.
