Ukraine and Russia Launch Massive Strikes Against Each Other
The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that during the night of April 9 and the preceding evening, Ukrainian forces targeted 158 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across ten regions of Russia, including Crimea. According to the statements from the ministry, Russian forces intercepted and destroyed the highest number of UAVs in the Krasnodar Krai and Rostov regions, with 67 and 29 respectively.
In addition to these two areas, UAVs were also shot down in Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Penza, Saratov, and Oryol regions, as well as over the Stavropol Krai, Crimea, and both the Black and Azov seas. Airports in Vladikavkaz (North Ossetia) and Grozny (Chechnya) were temporarily closed due to the ongoing operations.
In one suburb of Rostov-on-Don, a Ukrainian UAV fell without detonating, leading to the evacuation of residents from a multi-story building. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the structure was not damaged, yet 48 residents were evacuated due to the potential explosion risk.
Meanwhile, TASS reported that one woman was injured following a nighttime attack by Ukrainian forces in the city of Horlivka, part of the Donetsk People's Republic.
Ukrainian authorities, in turn, reported a barrage of strikes from Russian UAVs. Areas such as Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Kherson were targeted, among others. According to the BBC's Russian service, 14 individuals were injured as a result of the strikes in Dnipro, where residential buildings were struck, shattering at least 200 windows. In Kharkiv, two people were reported injured, and fires broke out in three neighborhoods of the city.
