Sometimes You Need to Take Medicine to Fix Something: Trump

The new tariffs are a medicine for the American economy, U.S. President Donald Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One, according to RBC, citing the White House press service.

The president dismissed the question of what he sees as the limits of the stock market's decline amid news of tariffs. “I don’t want to see anything fall. But sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something,” he said.

Trump spoke about conversations with representatives from Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world that are “adamant about wanting to reach an agreement.” He noted that he has communicated with major technology entrepreneurs who assured their support on the matter. At the same time, Trump declined to provide their names.

When asked about the possible cancellation of tariffs with the EU, the president said that European countries “have made a fortune off us,” and no agreement will happen until they “pay us a lot of money every year.”
