The Nagorno-Karabakh Issue Has Been Removed from the Agenda of Armenia-Azerbaijan Relations: MFA of Armenia

After the publication of the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue has been removed from the agenda for the regulation of inter-state relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was reported to Azatutyun by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

According to the MFA, Armenia was working in negotiations with Azerbaijan to ensure the safety and rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, including the establishment of international mechanisms to address these issues. “Efforts were also made to organize meetings between representatives of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh in third countries, which were rejected by Nagorno-Karabakh. After the publication of the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue has been removed from the agenda of the regulation of inter-state relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the MFA stated.

On April 2, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the main obstacle in the negotiations was Armenia's steadfast attempt to include the fate of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh in the peace agreement before January 2024.
