School Principal Forces Student to Clean Floor, Teacher Calls Student 'Turk'
A parent of a student studying at Khachatur Abovian Secondary School No. 2 has reported to Auroranews that days ago, the school principal, Narine Nazaryan, pulled an eighth-grade student, forcing him to take a so-called "floor stick" from the utility room and clean up juice spilled on the floor. The juice was spilled in the school hallway while the student was playing with a friend and acting carelessly.
When the child's mother demanded clarification, the principal told her, in the presence of the class teacher, that she was making a fuss over nothing, stating that it was the school's internal regulations and that she uses such methods to educate children. According to the parent, Nazaryan also insisted that, within the framework of educational work, another student could clean the floor the next day, and there was nothing extraordinary about it.
In an interview with Auroranews, Nazaryan stated that she did not push or pull the child and had no intention of humiliating him. However, the child and witnesses confirm that Nazaryan indeed pulled him and forced him to take the stick and clean the floor.
Incidentally, another report has been received from this school: a technology teacher, Karine Davtyan, referred to a sixth-grade student as a 'Turk' during class for making noise. Notably, the principal learned about these incidents from Auroranews.
Auroranews plans to contact the Yerevan City Hall and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports following this report, requesting a clear assessment of the principal's method of making students clean the floor and holding the responsible principal accountable for this phenomenon.
